COLLEGE PARK, Md. — In a 40 minute game that featured full-court presses by both the UNC Asheville Bulldogs and the Thundering Herd of Marshall, it was solid field goals and a solid performance from the charity stripe that gave Marshall the edge and the victory in the second-to-last game of the Terrapin Classic.  Marshall, who lost to Mississippi State on Monday, came out swinging and shot 57.1% in the first half and recorded 36 points in the opening 20 minutes of play.

NC Asheville looked to the 3-ball for help but found few opportunities to convert for the extra point.  Turnovers were rampant as both teams played aggressive up-tempo full court basketball that relied on traps and double-teams to force 18 and 17 turnovers for Marshall and UNC Asheville respectively.  In the drag-out battle that continued, the two squads amassed a combined 35 team fouls.

Four players for Marshall scored in double digits with Chantelle Handy leading the way with 14, followed up closely by off-the-bench player Keona Brooks, who recorded 13 points.  Alix Barnette and Angelica Harris ended the contest with 11 points apiece.

Ana Baker and Kendall Separd led the Thundering Herd with 14 and 13 points respectively.  Lindsey Thompson came off the bench and helped out with 11 points and 3 rebounds of her own.
