MIAMI – After losing two previous meetings to the Miami Heat this season, the Washington Wizards were finally able to overcome their Southeast Division foe with a 94-84 win Friday night.

Just days after the loss of Washington’s owner Abe Pollin and a strenuous week of off-court bickering between teammates, the Wizards were able to rally with the help of Antawn Jamison and Nick Young.  Jamison had a game high 24 points and Young finished with 22.

Young, starting for the injured Mike Miller, barely saw any playing time earlier this season, but played one of his best defensive performances to date, holding Miami’s All Star Dwayne Wade to just 18 points.

"I knew I had a big assignment tonight and I knew it was going to be a challenge for me but I've got to be prepared for everything," said Young.

Stepping up for the Heat, who had just the Orlando Magic by one point the night before, was Mario Chalmers who led Miami with 20 points, Jermaine O’Neal contributed 19 and Michael Beasley scored 14 points.  Chalmers also lead rebounding efforts for the Heat pulling down 13 board for the night, 11 of which were on the defensive end.

5’5” Earl Boykins added 10 points from the bench for the Wizards.

Washington, who beat Philadelphia on Wednesday, now improve to 5-9 this season but remain in last place in the Division.

The Wizards fly back home to Washington, D.C. to face the Charlotte Bobcats tonight at 7:00 pm.

GAME NOTES:

Wizards Gilbert Arenas sat out the entire fourth quarter of last night’s game.

Antawn Jamison scored his 16,000th career point.
