The Georgetown Hoyas took to the court this afternoon for Media Day 2007.  This annual event is designed to give members of the media access to players prior to the official start of the season on October 12th when the team is allowed to begin practices.

Head Coach John Thompson III has transformed the Hoyas basketball program since he took over 4 years ago, culminating last year as BIG EAST regular season conference champions, and NCAA Final Four contender.  Despite coming so far, Coach Thompson III sees the future as bright for the Hoyas.

The loss of BIG EAST Player of the Year, BIG EAST Tournament MVP, and NCAA East Regional MVP Jeff Green will be deeply felt.  He led the team in scoring in the 2006-2007 season, and was second on the team for assists and rebounds.  Jeff was selected 5th in the 2007 NBA Draft, and his departure from the team means other players will have to step up to fill the void.

However, with 4 returning starters from last year the Hoyas look to be a strong team.  Consensus All-BIG EAST center Roy Hibbert returns this year, and he promises to play a central role in the Hoyas offense and defense.

Senior Patrick Ewing Jr, son of former Georgetwon All-American Patrick Ewing, is back for his final season in the Blue and Gray.  At 6-8 and 240lbs he's a huge presence on the court and his leadership off the court is also noticeable.

Sophomore DaJuan Summers is also back.  This stand-out freshman from last year averaged 9.2 points per game and was a BIG-EAST All-Rookie.  He scored double-digit points in 18 games last year and was sharp on the 3 point line recording 42 buckets from long distance.

Senior Jonathan Wallace also returns to play guard.  He has started in 102 games dating back to his freshman year.  He's currently third on the team in scoring and third in assists.

The official kickoff of the Hoyas season starts 7pm on Friday, October 12th in McDonough Arena.
