Columbia University has threatened to expel pro-Palestinian students who refuse to leave the administration building.

In New York, hundreds of police surrounded Columbia University. The police arrested the protestors in the area.
Pro-Palestinian protesters occupied one of the university's administrative buildings for about 20 hours before the police raids began.
The police were called to the scene by the university administration, who asked the police to monitor the campus for two weeks until the spring graduation ceremony.
According to the university, the group leading the acquisition of the building is said to be in no way connected to the university.
Just before 10:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, police officers saw an entry through a second-floor window.
Protesters have demanded that the university drop all financial ties to Israel.

Demonstrations in support of Palestine have taken place on several campuses in the United States, causing tension across the country. On Tuesday, police also fired pepper spray to disperse protesters who tried to occupy a building at the City College of New York.
