Liverpool squandered chances against Manchester United – title race tight | game

Manchester United and Liverpool put on a fast-paced showdown in the English Premier League that ended in a 2-2 draw. As a result, Liverpool were unable to wrestle back to the top of the Premier League.

Jürgen Klopp's side are tied with Arsenal, but the London side have come out on top thanks to their superior goal difference. Defending champions Manchester City are one point behind Arsenal and Liverpool in the top three with seven games in hand.

Liverpool dominated the opening half of Sunday's battle to their heart's content, and a better result would have seen the team score more than a goal before the break. The first goal of the game came in the 23rd minute when Liverpool's Luis Diaz headed the ball into the net from a corner kick situation.

Manchester United scored two goals in the second half

The team equalized early in the second half. Liverpool's Jarrell Kwanza gave a poor deflection and United's Bruno Fernandes flicked the ball almost halfway into the goal.

Manchester took the momentum from their equaliser, and United's only 18-year-old Kobi Mainu fired a beautiful breakthrough into the back top corner in the 67th minute.

Liverpool finally equalized in the 84th minute when United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka brought down Harvey Elliott in the penalty area. Mohamed Salah scores the penalty kick. It was the Egyptian star's 17th win of the league season.

According to Premier League statistics, the fact that shots went 28–9 to Liverpool says a lot about the nature of the competition. However, shots on goal were “only” 7-5 in favor of Liverpool.
